Today we want to talk about conflict or disagreements in relationships. After 26 years of being together, we have most certainly had our share of arguments. With most any relationship wether it be friends, family or spouses, there will always be times you don't see eye to eye, but the key to maintaining those relationships is how you handle your disagreements.
Im so excited the weather has actually been cool here in Florida and you know what that means?? Boot wearing time! We have been waking up to temps in the low 50's and then it warms up to high 70's low 80's. This outfit is perfect since I can just remove the sweater if it gets too warm. I recently found theses booties at TJ Maxx and I love them!! They have a little ruffle detail on the top and side and are just the right height. I can't wear anything over 3 inches or it hurts my back (struggles being over forty I guess). Anyway, I hope you are getting some great weather where you are. Happy Fall! Outfit details at bottom of post.
By the way, fashion is not my expertise and I'm not sure how many of these post I will do 😏 But if you care to see more, just let me know and I will do my best😉.
This is a recipe I recently came up with. I love salads of all kinds... crab salad, Cobb salad, cauliflower salad, seven layer salad, tuna salad, etc. etc. etc. and now I love this salad!! I pretty much make it every other week and eat it for lunch most days. These are the ingredients I typically put in it, but you can leave out what you don't like or put in anything you do. I normally use feta but wanted to switch it up a bit and try fresh mozzarella. I also used couscous this time but sometimes I use quinoa.
The dressing I mix into this salad is my go to dressing for every salad I make. People love it! You can find the recipe HERE.
1 Box Roasted Garlic and Olive Oil Couscous prepared or 2 cups cooked Quinoa
1 can black beans rinsed and drained
1 cucumber diced with skin on (remove seeds)
1 red bell pepper diced
1 cup sliced cherry tomatoes
1 container of crumbled feta cheese or chopped fresh mozzarella
2-3 green onions chopped
1/4 to 1/2 cups of Vinagrette (recipe HERE)
Mix all ingredients together in large bowl and stir with spatula. Pour into decorative bowl and garnish with chopped green onions and whole cherry tomatoes. Serve as a side dish or seal in plastic conatiner and refrigerate. I typically add a little more dressing after its been in fridge.
This is my go to salad dressing! I always get rave reviews when I use it on my salads. It is also what I use on my Quinoa/Couscous salad. Double the recipe and keep in refrigerator to use whenever you need it.
Red Wine Vinagrette
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
1/2 cup olive oil or canola oil
1/2 sugar ( for low fat version use 8 packettes sweet n low or Splenda )
1 teaspoon dijon mustard
1 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon of salt and pepper
Pour into mason jar and shake. Store in refrigerator up to two to three months.
They say opposites attract.. well that was somewhat the case with us. Todd's very adventurous, loves to be in front of people making them laugh. I on the other hand tend to be a homebody and definitely don't like drawing attention to myself. So how have we made it work for the last 26 years?? Tammy's take on it: Well.. first I had to learn to not take life so seriously. Then I had to open myself up to going on new adventures (which turned out to be some amazing life experiences for me). It would be easier to stay home and be in my comfort zone, but now I know I would have missed out on some life changing moments. There are still times when we might be on an elevator with a group of people and Todd announces he has to hurry and get back to the space shuttle or to an important surgery and I just laugh out of awkwardness and he gets mad because I've ruined his joke. But then I love how sometimes people join in on the fun and I get annoyed when other people look at him crazy . My point is my fellow homebody's or introverts.. relax .. have a little fun, get out of your comfort zone, explore this amazing world with your significant other! It doesn't have to be anything crazy like skydiving or mountain climbing.. just get out and have fun.. I promise you won't regret it and your significant other will love you for it!
Todd's take on it: Ok. My turn...One of the ways to meet your significant other halfway if they aren't adventurous, is taking the time to explore what they like. I never was the type of guy that enjoyed a quiet evening at home until I met Tammy. It's cool to sit around the fire pit with a bottle of wine and talk about life, the past and future etc. Read a book together in bed. If you're outgoing and your mate isn't, never push them into activities they aren't interested in or make them feel bad for not being outgoing. Rather, ease them into something you both agree on.
Never.. ever.. tell them "loosen up" or ask them "why can't you just have a good time?" That's not how to motivate someone you love.
If you like to hike don't start out by making your spouse hike a 25 mile trail!!!! One of the things that has worked for us is that I can be that adventurous dude that goes surfing or hiking . I can be me, BUT NEVER so excessive that I ignore what's most important....my wife and family. Everything in moderation. Balance is the key to most everything.
