Unrelenting Love

I was recently thinking about how fiercely protective my husband is of our children. I was also thinking about the fact that as a mother, no matter the mistakes and poor decisions my children make, I still love them unconditionally.

But it really got me to thinking about where that strong need to love and protect comes from?

I often wonder if that’s how God must feel about us since he brought us into this world as his own.

1 John 4:19 says..

“We love because he first loves us.”

So many of us have experienced parents whose love was conditional or nonexistent.  But I can bet that most people know of a parent who has loved a child so strongly they would do anything to protect them. Maybe they’ve even felt it themselves for a niece or nephew, a grandchild or a significant other.

I’ve always thought there is something fundamentally wrong with a parent that has never felt this kind of love for their own child.

All I know is...when I look at all the love and protectiveness that my husband has for our children and the unfailing love I have for them... I like to believe that God has that same kind of love for me....Unrelenting Love.

I wonder if you have felt this kind of love for someone or have been loved like this?

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the Lord, who has compassion on you.  Isaiah 54:10

I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8: 38,39
