Historic Fernandina Beach

One of our favorite places to visit and ride our bikes is Fernandina Beach Fl. Historic district. Not only are there great shops and restaurants, but the Historic Homes there are absolutely beautiful.
I’ve listed all our favorite places to eat and shop below as well as places we would like to stay.

Fairbanks House 1885

I never tire of seeing these beautiful Historic Homes and being on our bikes riding up and down the side streets of town has allowed us to really take in all the details.
At the end of this post is a link to a local Bike rental if you don’t have your own.

Lewis-Tabby House 1885

I probably should have titled this Historic Homes of Fernandina since that’s most of what you see pictured here; However, I wanted to also include our favorite place to eat and some places we would like to stay there as well. Check out some of our favorites at the end of this post.

Prescott House C.1876

One of my Favorite streets with beautiful homes is North 6th Street. It’s within walking distance of Centre street where all of the stores and Restaurants are.

I love how whimsical the porch is on this a historic Home.

The angles and windows of this home always catch my eye … Plus there is always a really sweet kitty sleeping on the porch when we ride by.

This building is right on Centre Street and is now a Church Office.

I have always loved the details of this home… especially the porch.

Chadwick House 1853

Another Beauty on 6th Street. The back of this home is just as beautiful.

Look at those Porch details 😍

The Waas House 1857 is a large home that seems to go on for days. I love the rounded porch details and the green roof. There are also more beautiful homes surrounding this one so be sure to take a ride to check it out.

Another favorite with its beautiful porches and doors.

The landscape and gardens of this home are just amazing. I love visiting in the spring when the confederate Jasmine is blooming on their pergola. This home is within walking distance from the Boat House Restaurant.

Centre Street is where most of the Shops and Restaurants are located…be sure to check out all our favorite stops down below.

Fort Clinch is about 10 minutes or so from Downtown and is a must see. You can read all about it HERE.

Eight Flags Antique Market is my favorite Antique shop on Centre street. I have found some amazing things here that are now in my home.

There is a mini golf course Called Gregor MacGregors Mini Links and Drinks right off of Centre Street. They serve snacks and ice cream and they also have a mini bar with seating.

So now that I have enticed you to visit this beautiful section of Fernandina Beach … Now let me tell you our Favorite stops!

Dining

The Salty Pelican Excellent seafood dishes and great steaks… if you are a fan of Bloody Mary’s then be sure to get one here!

The Tavern by AIBC This is typically our first stop when we get there. We order and share the Reuben spring rolls and Truffle Fries and typically get an alcoholic beverage.

Peppers We usually just sit onthe patio and have drinks and chips and dip. This is just a resting point for us that we enjoy.

The Boat House We love the atmosphere and live music here.

There are other great places to eat here but these are just the ones we frequent the most.

Shopping

The Book Loft This book store is just the perfect size and feels like it’s out of a movie. The kids section is so much fun and is decorated perfectly.

Eight Flags Antique Mall This is my favorite stop and they not only have Antiques but also new furniture and accessories for the home.

Island Treasures Antiques We stop here on our way into the Historic District since it’s not within walking distance. They have the most amazing garden statuary outside and so many unique items inside the shop. This is where we got our Fountain.

Places To Stay

Disclaimer : I have not personally stayed in any of these places since we typically only go for the day; however, these are a few that have caught my eye and would like to try out while visiting for a weekend.

Hoyt House

The Addison

Fairbanks House

If you’re looking for a hotel…then this Hampton Inn and Suites is a good choice since it’s right in the historic district and is within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants.

Bike Rental

Bike Amelia This rental company will deliver your Bike to the Historic District and then pick it up.

Hopefully this has helped you plan your next weekend getaway to this beautiful part of Fernandina Beach, FL. Don’t forget there is also the beautiful Beachside and Amelia island to stay and you could even just come for the day to the historic District. Either way, we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
Hugs!
