Week in ReView 05.02.2021

This Week in Review is more like a couple weeks in review since there hasn’t been a whole lot going on.

Be sure to watch the above video to see Colli release our butterflies.

First up… we added this sweet girl to our family. Her name is “Bayla “and she is a sweetheart. I love how she bows up her back and hops around when she plays… so darn cute.

Introducing her to our 13 year old cat “Wonder” has been interesting. He typically hisses at her but finally started to play with her a bit now that she’s been here a few days.

I have been wanting a couple of hydrangeas for the Cottage Garden. We have never had any luck growing them which is so depressing since they are my favorite flower.

So I called “Nobles Greenhouse and asked which hydrangeas would be the best for our sandy soil and hot weather and she suggested white wedding and Lime light.
I liked the shape of the White wedding hydrangeas best, so that’s what I went with. I’m praying these make it !!

I learned how to make homemade Gnocchi to use in my Gnocchi Carbonara. I could not believe how easy it was to make! I didn’t have a Gnocchi board but my vintage/antique butter paddles worked perfect to crease the dough. I’ll share my gnocchi carbonara recipe soon.

After reading the book “Digital Minimalism” I have found myself with a lot more free time due to not being on social media or my phone constantly. Read Escaping the Noise HERE

I decided to finally learn how to shoot photos in manual mode using my DSLR Camera.

It’s something I’ve always wanted to learn and honestly … it was a matter of just reading a few blogs and start practicing… I definitely have a lot of the latter to do.

I had no idea what a difference using my DSLR camera makes in photos versus my iPhone. I’ve really been able to see the graininess in the phone pics now that I’m using my Canon camera more. I will however, continue to use my iPhone for photos in a pinch .

I’m loving the details you can see in the photos like the bee on this sunflower photo I took.

We took our kids and Colli to a local Blueberry farm called Red, White and Blue Farms. I love that they have a field of sunflowers where you can pick and pay for them. This is our daughter Zoey in the sunflower field picking a bouquet for her table.

Colli had lots of bonding time with his “Pops” while we were there.

We picked a lot of blueberries to take home and Colli pretty much just picks and eats his blueberries along the way. I always tell them they need to weigh him before and after since we have no idea how many he puts away.

We ate a whole lot of yummy food when we visited. The chicken salad sandwich is a favorite of mine along with their blueberry donuts…so…soooo… good. It was a Great day with our kiddos and Colli together.

And last but certainly not least…. I’m excited to say that the seven sisters Rose we Planted last year is flourishing!

A few months after we planted it I had noticed it was getting a fungus. I read that this happens due to possible over watering or watering in the evening instead of morning. So I treated It with a natural fungicide and then started only watering it in the mornings and it worked!
