Christmas 2020

This year has definitely been one that will go down in history…so of course Christmas of 2020 was going to leave its mark as well.

I was laying out most of the food for our annual Christmas Eve party when all of the sudden an awful wind and rain storm came in and knocked out all of the electricity! Thankfully I only had one more thing in the oven that had five minutes left when the power went out.

Luckily I got a couple pictures of the food before we had no lights.
Our family and friends thankfully got here safely and definitely came prepared with multiple flash lights, candles and lanterns. We made the best of it and had dinner by candlelight.

The lights eventually came back on and Todd got to read the Christmas Story and The Night Before Christmas in his best English accent (See video).

Colli tracked Santa throughout the night on the NORAD Santa Tracker

He even spotted him outside our window a few times (See Video Below).

We played the Saran Wrap Ball game and Pops and Colli won some crazy teeth. We will definitely be playing this game again next year.

Colli even got to open a few presents early.

Here is a video I made with snippets from the Evening.

We woke up Christmas morning and opened our stockings from Santa then headed to Eme and Grandaddys house for their annual Christmas morning Breakfast.

Eme made our favorite coffee punch (I’ll share the recipe later).

Homemade biscuits Eme made using Brenda Gantts Recipe. Aunt Sue Sue made gravy to go with them
and we also had Emes Breakfast Casserole .

We opened presents and Colli got a Spider- Man Bike and a whole lot of remote control construction toys.

Then we headed back to our house and Bubba Mikey, my Mom and Nephew Chris came over. We opened presents and had a charcuterie board, Reuben sliders, homemade punch and Hot chocolate.

Mom and I made my Nana’s homemade chocolate covered cherries. I learned all the secrets today and will share the recipe soon.

IMG_0256.jpeg

We watched the Movie Elf while we waited for the cherries to get cold so we could dip them in chocolate.

Mikey got his favorite Christmas presents... bananas and one dollar bills. We also got him a Batman robe that has a cape.

Todd and Jack worked together to get Todd’s Christmas gift operating.

Now I’m sitting here by the fire resting and enjoying a glass of wine while listening to “Hallelujah” by Carrie Underwood and John Legend on repeat.

Regardless of how “Crappy” this year has been, Todd and I both agreed that Christmas of 2020 was pretty magical.

Here’s an outtake for ya … Todd helping keep my slippers dry… that’s a good man right there ❤️
