Little Women Room

Do you have a special room to be creative in your home? For me it’s my “Little Women Room”.

Previously this was our daughters bedroom and I’ve always loved all the light that came through the beautiful Bay Window.

At one time this was also our children’s playroom and now it’s somewhat of a “playroom” for me.
There was a time when the only creative space I had was the dining room table or a closet that I had a little desk in. So I feel fortunate to have such a special place now all to myself.
Purchase Chandelier HERE.

Beadboard is one of my favorite wall coverings and we also had a lot of damage on the walls due to nail holes and paint peeling (teenagers🙄) so this was a great solution to cover it up.

Todd and I applied the beadboard behind the bed and then decided the rest of the walls were going to be a bit more difficult, so we hired a handyman to finish them off.

I found this amazing old table at an antique shop and turned it into a desk where I can oil paint and also practice my creative writing. The chair is from an antique store and I absolutely fell in with love the green upholstery on it.

When I’m creating I always think of Jo from “Little Women” sitting by her window writing her books by candlelight. Takes me back to more simpler times.

The Louis XV bed frame was a Facebook Marketplace find and the antique duvet cover, bed skirt and pillow cases were all gifted to us.
I purchase the buttoned pillow cover from HERE.

Here are a few things to look for to create a room that is unique and special:

•Add vintage or Antique oil lamps and candlestick holders to bedside tables, dressers and desks.

•Find antique or vintage Hair accessories to display on a vanity table such as old curling irons, Hair Pins, and brushes.

*Find vintage or antique Bed Linens at Antique Stores or on Etsy. I’ve also found beautiful bed coverings made from beautiful linens HERE

•For a desk I like to add vintage books, an antique ink well and also a metal flower Frog with a vintage photo tucked into it.

I have found that I am more likely to hang on to items Longer if I purchase ones that are timeless and beautiful versus items that are massed produced.
